FAQs

  • “Hark” means to listen and pay close attention—the foundation of my approach as a Counsellor. Hark Therapy is your safe, supportive space to be truly heard without judgement.

  • Hello, I’m Catherine — a qualified Counsellor and Hypnotherapist, and the founder of Hark Therapy. My own journey through mental health challenges led me to pursue counselling as a profession. I understand how daunting that first step can feel, and my aim is to offer a compassionate, calm and supportive space for you to explore whatever you’re facing.

I’ve supported clients through grief, trauma, post-natal depression, anxiety, shame and more. I’ve volunteered for Butterflies and The Bereavement Counselling Charity (TBCC), and I continue to undergo regular CPD, supervision, and training.

  • Alongside counselling, I am also trained and experienced in hypnotherapy, having achieved a Diploma in Hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy can be a gentle yet powerful tool to support emotional healing and behavioural change. It works by helping you enter a relaxed, focused state where your mind becomes more open to positive suggestions, new perspectives and helpful coping strategies.

  • Hypnotherapy can support:

    • Anxiety and stress

    • Confidence and self-esteem

    • Habit change

    • Relaxation

    • Emotional processing

    • Breaking unhelpful thought patterns

Hypnotherapy is always conducted safely, ethically and at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You remain in control throughout the process.

  • I offer both face-to-face and online counselling.

    • Face-to-face sessions take place in a beautiful therapy room in the heart of Alton, Hampshire.

    • Online sessions allow you to talk from the comfort of your own home.

My integrative, holistic approach blends person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT-informed techniques—tailored to your individual needs.

  • You can begin by booking a free 20-minute telephone consultation via the website.
After this introductory call, further appointments can be arranged by email or telephone.

How often will sessions take place?

If you choose to work with me, we will agree on a schedule that suits your needs—weekly, fortnightly, or an alternative arrangement. Therapy continues for as long as it feels beneficial for you.
