Payment Information

How to Pay

I accept payment via:

  • Cash (for face-to-face sessions)

  • Bank transfer (for all session types)

Payment is requested 24 hours before each session. This simple arrangement helps me manage the administrative side of my practice efficiently, allowing me to focus fully on providing you with the best possible therapeutic support.

Bank transfer details will be provided when you book your first session after our introductory call.

Why Payment in Advance?

Requesting payment 24 hours before your session helps in several ways:

  • It confirms your commitment to attending the session

  • It reduces administrative time during or after our sessions, allowing us to focus entirely on your therapy

  • It provides clarity and removes any awkwardness around payment

  • It helps me run my small practice efficiently and sustainably

If paying 24 hours in advance presents any difficulty for you, please speak to me. I'm always happy to discuss individual circumstances.

Understanding the Investment

What You're Paying For

When you invest in counselling, you're not just paying for an hour of time—you're investing in:

Professional Expertise - My qualifications (Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Practice and BSc Hons Psychology), ongoing training, and years of experience supporting people through difficult times.

A Safe, Confidential Space - Whether face-to-face, online, or by telephone, you're paying for a dedicated therapeutic environment where you can be completely yourself without judgment.

Personalised Support - An integrative approach tailored specifically to your unique needs, not a one-size-fits-all solution.

Ongoing Professional Development - I invest in continued learning, supervision, and professional development to ensure I provide the highest quality care.

Administrative Costs - Professional insurance, secure record-keeping, therapy room rental, supervision, and professional memberships that ensure I practice ethically and safely.

Your Wellbeing - Most importantly, you're investing in yourself—your mental health, your healing, and your future wellbeing.

Comparing Costs

Counselling fees can vary significantly across the UK. In Hampshire and surrounding areas, private counselling typically ranges from £45 to £100+ per session depending on the therapist's experience, location, and approach.

My fees are positioned to be accessible while still reflecting the professional, qualified service I provide. I'm a mother with a young family myself, so I understand the importance of balancing quality care with affordability.

Frequency and Total Investment

How Often Will I Need Sessions?

Most clients benefit from weekly sessions, especially in the beginning. This frequency allows for:

  • Continuity and momentum in your therapeutic work

  • Regular, consistent support when you need it most

  • Time between sessions to reflect and practice new insights

As you progress, we might move to fortnightly sessions if that feels more appropriate. Some clients prefer to space sessions out as they begin to feel stronger and more confident.

How Long Will I Need Counselling?

This is one of the most common questions, and the honest answer is: it depends entirely on you and your unique circumstances.

Short-term counselling (6-12 sessions) can be helpful for:

  • Working through a specific issue or life event

  • Developing coping strategies for a particular challenge

  • Gaining clarity on a decision or situation

Longer-term counselling (several months or more) might be beneficial for:

  • Processing complex trauma or deep-rooted issues

  • Significant life transitions or ongoing challenges

  • Personal growth and self-understanding

We'll regularly review your progress together and discuss what feels right for you. You're always in control of how long you continue with counselling.

Example Investment

To give you an idea of potential costs:

12 weekly face-to-face sessions = £780
12 weekly online sessions = £600
24 weekly online sessions (6 months) = £1,200

While this is an investment, consider what you're gaining: better mental health, improved relationships, healthier coping mechanisms, greater self-understanding, and tools that will serve you for the rest of your life.

Cancellations and Missed Sessions

Cancellation Policy

Life is unpredictable, and I understand that sometimes you need to cancel or reschedule. Here's how it works:

More than 48 hours notice - Full flexibility to reschedule with no charge.

Less than 48 hours notice - I may need to charge for the session, as it's often too late to offer that time to another client. However, I understand emergencies happen, and I'll always approach this with compassion and flexibility.

Missed sessions (no notice) - The full session fee will apply, as you've reserved that time exclusively for you.

I'm reasonable and understanding about genuine emergencies, illness, or unexpected circumstances. Clear communication is all I ask.

Booking and Payment Process

How It Works

  1. Book your free call - Start with the complimentary 20-minute 'Meet and Greet'

  2. Decide to proceed - If we're a good fit, we'll schedule your first full session

  3. Receive payment details - I'll send you my bank details or discuss cash payment

  4. Pay 24 hours before - Make payment via bank transfer (or bring cash to face-to-face sessions)

  5. Attend your session - Focus entirely on your therapy without worrying about payment

It's simple, straightforward, and designed to make the process as smooth as possible.

Questions About Fees?

If you have any questions about fees, payment, or affordability, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm always happy to discuss these practicalities openly during your free introductory call.

Money can feel like an awkward topic, but it doesn't have to be. I want you to feel completely comfortable and informed about the financial side of counselling so you can focus on what really matters—your healing and growth.
